A Call To Walk

So, Why Walk?

Its a seemingly simple question with a lot of answers. One is that its the way golf was meant to be played. After all, its hard to spoil a long walk when you are riding in a traditional golf cart! All kidding aside, there is a purity and special form of enjoyment that comes from walking a round of golf. I find I spend more time enjoying my surroundings, and thinking about my next shot that I do when driving around.

The more practical answer is the enormous health benefit. 18 holes of golf is an average of 5 miles, and that can burn up to 1500 calories while building strength in legs and torso with a low impact, joint friendly (not to mention enjoyable) activity. The U.S.G.A. has begun a campaign to reach golfers, and golf courses to emphasize how important bringing the long walk back is to the future of the game.

Finally, If "green" is your thing, walking with a power cart uses about 25% of the energy of riding in a big power cart.

But, my course does not allow walking with a personal cart!

Unfortunately, many courses still have this antiquated, and disctriminatory policy. But, don't simply accept this policy as immutalbe! Talk to your pro about allowing personal carts at times when the course is not crowded. Many private clubs have board of directors, so if your pro can't or won't make the change, address the board. My home course had a "no pull cart" policy for years, but recently relaxed it and is allowing its members to use carts on weekday afternoons. Rounds are up, and so are concession sales. It has been a win-win for the club and its members. Remember to assure your pro and superintendant that you understand personal carts must follow the same rules as the big boys, keep them away from greens, bunkers and tee boxes and follow all cart-path-only regulations.

So, why a power cart?

As healthy as walking a round of golf is, carrying a golf bag is just as bad, if not worse for your shoulder and back. Even the more ergonomic dual bag straps can still take a toll. Plus, carrying elevates the danger of heat exhuastion, and general fatigue that will affect your game.

Manual push carts are better than carrying, but still the constant steering, and guiding can be tiresome. And, if you play a hilly course, good luck trying to get one to stay where you put it! They tend to be poorly balanced, and since your golf bag will outweigh it by five times, its, well, like a Yugo trying to pull a travel trailer. Personal Power carts, on the other hand, do all of the work for you. Whether you choose a Fully Remote Controlled Model, or one that is Power Assisted, it will free you up to think about your game, not your clubs. They cost half of what they did 10 years ago in real dollars, and they are more reliable, and efficient than ever before. Most will pay for themselves in 50 rounds or less, saving you $12-15 per round in cart fees. There is no better way to instantly improve your all-around satisfaction with the game than a personal motorized golf cart. And we hope you trust GolfPowerCarts.com to deliver it to your door!
